Visitor Information
ATG continues to make the safety and security of its customers and staff a priority. As such, please bear in mind that we will undertake bag checks, so recommend you leave extra time to avoid queues, and refrain from bringing suitcases, rucksacks, and large bags into the Theatre as these will be refused.
The Grand Opera House York is a cashless venue. All transactions, including Box Office sales, Bars, Merchandise and Concessions require payment by card.
Unless stated otherwise, photography and filming during a performance is strictly prohibited. The Management reserves the right to remove audience members found to be photographing or filming during a performance.
Smoking and the use of e-cigarettes/vapes is strictly prohibited inside the venue. Designated smoking areas are available outside.
All children (ages 18 months to 15 years inclusive*) shall require their own ticket and must be supervised at all times. Supervision of children shall be by not less than 1 adult (aged 18 years or over) per 10 children and the supervising adult must sit next to the children.
No children under 3 will be admitted to the Venue except where it is specifically stated at the time of booking that the event is suitable for under 3s. If any other age restrictions apply for a particular performance this will be stated on the relevant production page of our website.
And finally, we ask you to consider the enjoyment of other audience members and do not disturb the performance.

The Grand Opera House does not have a lift. Access to the Foyer Bar, Dress Circle and Grand Circle is via stairs only. For the number of steps on each level please see our seat plan prior to selecting seats. Step free access to the Stalls is available via our access entrance on King Street. Please note that our access entrance is on a hill leading down towards the river and the road is cobbled with a slope.
