Visit York Leads Launch of Accessibility Filter – Driving Inclusive Growth Across York’s Visitor Economy
A new Accessibility Filter on the Visit York website has launched, designed to make York a more inclusive and welcoming destination for all. The new feature allows users to search for businesses based on specific accessibility features, helping visitors and residents alike to find venues that meet their individual access needs.
Developed to strengthen York’s position as an inclusive and accessible city, the Accessibility Filter empowers local businesses to showcase the accessibility services they offer directly within their online listings. From wheelchair access and accessible toilets to braille menus and other key features, each listing can now provide clear and accurate details to support informed decision-making for all visitors.
Phase 1 of the rollout introduces a simple checklist that businesses can use to update their listings quickly and easily. Members can log in to their accounts at visityork.org/login and select the accessibility features relevant to their venue. This first phase ensures that essential information is visible to users right away, while Phase 2 – launching soon in partnership with VisitBritain – will expand data collection to include a wider range of accessibility details.
By sharing accurate accessibility information, York’s tourism and hospitality businesses are not only enhancing their visibility online but also contributing to a citywide effort to make York more accessible for everyone. This initiative supports Visit York’s ongoing commitment to inclusivity within the visitor economy, ensuring every guest can enjoy all that York has to offer with confidence and ease.
Businesses are encouraged to update their listings now and help build a stronger, more accessible destination for all. For any questions, members can contact the Digital Team at digitalteam@makeityork.com.
