An essential part of the work we do is gathering market intelligence to understand our visitors and their perceptions. This is key to planning successful marketing campaigns.
We regularly monitor tourism data and follow trends in hotel occupancy, visits to attractions, visitor satisfaction, the economic impact of tourism and we survey the business tourism sector.
Our standard research is free for Visit York members to use, to help inform your own marketing decisions and to see how your business performance sits within the bigger picture.
Don’t forget - research is also conducted nationally by national tourism agency VisitBritain for both domestic tourism trends and overseas visitor trends.

Presenting to Student Groups
We are happy to respond to requests to speak to school, college and university students about tourism in York and the work of Visit York. In order to arrange a presentation to your students, we will need 6 weeks’ notice to book a mutually convenient time and place.
