Welcome to St Michael le Belfrey! We are a Christian Church in the centre of York with a vision to Serve God’s Transformation of the North. That means we have a passion to serve our neighbourhood, our city, our region and beyond, showing them and you the love of Jesus Christ.

We are currently undergoing a major renovation project (you might notice some work going on around the building) to make our building fit for purpose for worship and mission for the future. While this is happening, we are meeting in the De Grey Rooms, a grade two listed ballroom across from the art gallery.
We gather throughout the week for a variety of events and groups, and particularly for our services on Sundays and Wednesdays. These have a range of styles, with joyful worship, prayer and practical Bible teaching. The heart of church community and life is found in our mid-week ‘Belfrey Groups’, small gatherings of people which usually take place in homes. We also offer people the chance to hire out our current space in the De Grey Rooms (capacity 200) and small hall on Stonegate (capacity 60) for events, including parties, conferences and can offer regular hire spaces. Check out what we can offer and our rates on our events page.
