Developed and delivered by Visit York in partnership with the North York Moors National Park, a striking new promotional campaign is bringing the region’s cinematic story directly to London this December. Running from 1 to 14 December 2025 and across the high-footfall spaces of King’s Cross underground station, the initiative spotlights York and the North York Moors National Park’s starring roles across film and television. The campaign will captivate commuters, inviting audiences to discover the real-life locations behind world-famous scenes. 

The creative, themed ‘Starring York and North York Moors’, celebrates the region’s rich heritage as a backdrop for epic adventures, dark mysteries, timeless romance and iconic fantasy moments. From the grandeur of Castle Howard and the atmospheric streets of York to the windswept valleys and coastlines of the North York Moors National Park, the displays showcase the landscapes that have captivated global audiences for decades. 

The activity is supported through coordinated promotion on Visit York’s channels with a feature video across social media and a dedicated online hub offering on-location itineraries designed to help visitors retrace the steps of celebrated film and TV productions. Highlights include York Minster’s appearances in Victoria and Elizabeth, the Shambles’ inspiration for Diagon Alley, Whitby Abbey’s connection to Dracula, and Goathland Station’s unforgettable role in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. 

As a major gateway between London and York, King’s Cross provides an ideal platform for reaching both domestic and international audiences. By showcasing York’s cinematic heritage in one of the UK’s busiest travel hubs, the campaign strengthens the region’s profile as a must-see cultural destination and harnesses the growing influence of film tourism in shaping visitor choices.
