As part of activity delivered through the York & North Yorkshire LVEP, Make It York joined partners from across the region to bring together tourism businesses and stakeholders during English Tourism Week 2026, highlighting the importance of the visitor economy across York and North Yorkshire.

Delivered in partnership with Visit North Yorkshire and VisitEngland, the event formed part of a wider regional visit by Lady Victoria Borwick, Chair of the VisitEngland Advisory Board. Her visit to York included a tour of York Minster and opportunities to experience key visitor attractions, aligning with English Tourism Week (13–22 March 2026), which this year focused on the theme “Local Stories, National Growth”, recognising the vital contribution of tourism to local economies across the country.

Held on Tuesday 17 March, the networking reception took place aboard a City Cruises York boat, offering a memorable setting on the River Ouse and providing an opportunity to showcase York from a different perspective. The event brought together around 40 tourism businesses and stakeholders—primarily from York—creating a valuable space for connection, conversation and shared insight.

The reception enabled direct engagement between local businesses and national tourism leadership, offering attendees the opportunity to discuss current challenges, share best practice and explore future opportunities for the sector. It also provided a platform to highlight the strength, diversity and resilience of York’s tourism offer within the wider regional and national context.

Visit York supported promotion of the event through its owned communication channels, alongside direct stakeholder engagement and Eventbrite, helping to ensure strong representation from across the sector.

As part of activity delivered through the York & North Yorkshire LVEP, the event reflects the ongoing importance of partnership working in strengthening the visitor economy. By facilitating opportunities for connection and collaboration during English Tourism Week, Make It York continues to support the city’s tourism sector and reinforce York’s position as a leading UK destination.
