An essential part of the work we do is gathering market intelligence to understand our visitors and their perceptions. This is key to planning successful marketing campaigns.
We regularly monitor tourism data and follow trends in hotel occupancy, visits to attractions, visitor satisfaction, the economic impact of tourism and we survey the business tourism sector.
Our standard research is free for Visit York members to use, to help inform your own marketing decisions and to see how your business performance sits within the bigger picture.
Presenting to student groups
We are happy to respond to requests to speak to school, college and university students about tourism in York and the work of Visit York. In order to arrange a presentation to your students, we will need 6 weeks’ notice to book a mutually convenient time and place. If your group has up to 15 people (including staff) we can welcome you to our offices at 1 Museum St, subject to our meeting room being available. Unfortunately we do not have the capacity to accommodate larger groups, but we are happy to come to a suitable venue in the centre of York and present there - just let us know which venue you have booked and we will meet your group there.
Don’t forget - research is also conducted nationally by national tourism agency VisitBritain for both domestic tourism trends (visitbritain.org/england-research-insights) and overseas visitor trends (visitbritain.org/inbound-research-insights)
