About Us
A nineteenth century, historic inn transformed into a cosy, relaxed country pub with bedrooms, overlooking the historic ruins of Byland Abbey in North Yorkshire. Serving a seasonal menu created by Head Chef Charlie Smith, and Chef Director Tommy Banks, alongside an excellently curated drinks list from real hand-pumped local ales to seasonal cocktails.
There's evolving, seasonal menus that champion classic, British food, with an added unique Oldstead style. Whether you’re enjoying a pint and some bar snacks next to the fire, or experiencing our full menu or children's menu, there’s something for everyone! We also serve and award-winning Sunday Roast from 12pm-7pm every Sunday.

From Wednesday 31st July - Wednesday 25th September our summer opening hours will be in place.
We'll be open for dinner on Wednesdays along with lunch on Thursdays, meaning more opportunities to try our delicious garden menu, our ever changing specials and our moreish main menu.

The Abbey Inn, a relaxed country pub with rooms, overlooking the historic ruins of Byland Abbey. We offer our rooms every day of the week for stays up to 3 nights. The Abbey Inn is open for food Thursday - Monday. Guests staying on a Tuesday or Wednesday are welcome to dine at our sister restaurant The Black Swan Oldstead.
