St. Sampson's Centre
About Us
St. Sampson’s Centre is a community hub and café based in a former church building in the city centre of York. We provide a range of activities so that local people can come together, reduce loneliness and isolation, and improve the wellbeing of older people and other residents through support, advice, information, low-cost food and social activities. The café also provides volunteer opportunities for various people, such as those who are retired, ex-offenders, and people with learning disabilities. Historically, we were only open to people over the age of 60, but are now open to people of all ages and backgrounds as a way of improving community cohesion, safety, and to restore civic pride. Our ethos is to offer a ‘home away from home’ to anyone who walks through the door.
