We’re thrilled to announce the launch of a brand new tasting experience in York: Wine & Crisps Pairing Evenings, hosted by WSET-qualified drinks expert Emma Moore, right here in the stylish, newly opened York Distillery at Middleton’s Hotel.

A Tasting Experience with a Twist

Forget the usual cheese boards and canapés. These tasting nights are all about the simple joy of crisps & snacks – paired surprisingly (and delightfully) with at least six different wines:

Each glass is matched with a specific crisp, from posh, hand-cooked varieties to old-school favourites you might already have in your snack cupboard. Emma will guide guests through each pairing, explaining how flavour profiles interact – and why crisps might just be the unsung heroes of wine pairing.

“I’ve always believed crisps deserve a place at the tasting table,” says Emma. “Their saltiness and texture can enhance wine beautifully. These events are fun, relaxed, and full of surprises.”

The Venue: York Distillery

The tastings are held in the beautiful York Distillery where York Gin’s tasting and gin-making experiences take place. Set inside the just-opened York Distillery, this venue blends historic charm with a contemporary, speakeasy-style vibe. Think ambient lighting, exposed brick, and hidden-away bar energy – a perfect setting for a playful yet refined evening out. Whether you’re a wine aficionado or a crisp connoisseur, you’ll feel right at home.
