About
Women at War – Summer Holidays 2026 at Eden Camp Modern History Museum
This summer, Eden Camp Modern History Museum invites families to uncover the extraordinary stories of the women who helped win the Second World War. From 17 July to 31 August, a packed programme of hands-on activities brings their courage, determination, and resilience to life.
Women at War: Poo Clues Trail (18 July – 31 August, included with admission)
Can you crack the secret wartime word? Hunt for animal poo clues hidden around the museum, identify the culprit at each stop, and collect letters to reveal the answer — with a sweet treat reward waiting at the end!
Little Evacuees Workshop (Free, Mon–Fri, 12–1pm & 2–3pm, booking required)
Step back into wartime Britain as children make their own cardboard gas mask, explore evacuation and rationing, and meet the remarkable women who kept Britain running. Every child takes home their gas mask, a wartime identity tag, and memories to last a lifetime.
Cow Milking Experience (Select days from 11am, included with admission)
Join Connie from the Women's Land Army, hear stories from wartime farms, and try your hand at milking a model cow — just as Land Girls did every day to keep the country fed.
Living History Weekend (29–30 August)
Reenactors bring history to life across the whole site. Meet medics, explore a Sherman Tank, try authentic ration recipes, dance to live music, and dress up in 40s style.
