Introducing a brand-new outdoor ice rink in the heart of York’s historic Museum Gardens.
Open 7 days a week, from the 13th of November 2026 to the 3rd January 2027, THOR’S on ICE is bringing festive magic back to our city centre.
You’ll find us behind York Art Gallery, surrounded by the gorgeous edible gardens and historic city walls. Whether you glide, skate or stumble across the ice, we’ll help you feel the figure skating fantasy with skate aids, penguin helpers and a rink that welcomes wobbly ankles.
You can skate under the stars, come rain or shine, protected by our clear covering; then thaw out post-skate with a hot drink on our Alpine Terrace. A quick 3-minute walk from the rink, you’ll find THOR’S tipi where cosy corners, festive tipples & firepit seating are waiting to welcome you.
Worked up an appetite? Roll off the ice and face-first into a delicious salt & pepper chicken spice bag and sugar-coated churros.
Big group? Let’s get you booked! From welcome drinks and festive feast packages, to hiring out the whole rink, we’ll help you create a Christmas party you’ll remember long after the ice melts.
