Make your own Georgian Christmas Wreath in the splendid setting of York Mansion House’s State Room, beautifully decorated for the festive season.
York florist Sue Hunter MBE will take you through creating your own beautiful wreath to take home, using natural materials including seasonal foliage, pine cones, fresh moss and dried oranges, before adding finishing touches such as colourful ribbons.
In the Georgian and Regency period, the Christmas season ran from 6 December, St Nicholas Day, but decorations were not put up until 24 December. These all used natural materials and included holly and evergreens, often in the form of kissing boughs, yule logs and wreaths.
Sue is an experienced florist who has run Floral Elegance in Acomb, York, for 24 years and has a wealth of knowledge to share about using greenery and floristry to decorate your home today.
Tickets are £56 each and include all the materials you need to make your own seasonal wreath as well as mince pies and a glass of mulled wine or non-alcoholic alternative.
