Looking for a unique getaway? Choose a stay in the UK's oldest living convent! Our guest house offers modern rooms set within a Grade1 listed building steeped in a fascinating history.
We are a 5 minute walk from York Train Station and situated just outside of York's City Walls, and with self-catering available too we are ideal for both work or leisure.
Within the building, you can also enjoy a visit to our café, serving some of the best scones and cakes in York, our beautiful private garden and conferencing facilities. Guests also receive discount entry to our exhibition.

Opening Times
Check-in for guests is from 3pm, except by prior arrangement. Check-out is by 10am on the day of departure and we are happy to store your luggage until 9.30pm.
Our café and garden are open to the public from Monday to Saturday between 8am and 3pm each day, with hot food served until 2.30pm.
The exhibition, chapel and gift shop are all open Monday to Saturday, 10am until 5pm.
Please be aware that some parts of the Bar Convent (including the chapel) will occasionally be closed for private events. If you're making a special trip, please call ahead on 01904 643 238.
