The Dark Skies Escape at The Abbey Inn

Discover the magic of autumn beneath some of Yorkshire’s darkest skies with an enchanting overnight escape at The Abbey Inn.

Inspired by the North York Moors Dark Skies Fringe Festival, our Dark Skies Retreat invites you to experience the beauty of the night sky for a little longer, with stays available into the first week of November.

Arrive at The Abbey Inn and unwind with a seasonal welcome drink before settling in for a cosy dinner in the warmth of the pub. As night falls, wrap up warm and venture out to the atmospheric ruins of Byland Abbey, where centuries-old stonework and far-reaching dark skies create a truly memorable setting for stargazing. We’ll provide hot chocolate and homemade sweet treats to enjoy beneath the stars before you return for a restful night in one of our comfortable bedrooms.

The following morning, your escape continues with a hearty breakfast at The Black Swan, just a mile down the road.

Available for stays from Monday 26th October to Friday 6th November.
