A Photographic Tour of Victorian York
About
Available to York residents only - see details of York Residents' Festival
Following the popularity of last year's York Residents' Festival walk, Dr Simon Rogerson is back with a new Photographic Tour of Victorian York. York residents can book their free tickets on our Eventbrite page: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e...
York's historic streets and buildings were first photographed in the middle of the 19th Century. On this special York's Hidden History walk, on Saturday 25th January, Simon will lead participants on a picturesque stroll down Micklegate and into the heart of the city, showing how dramatically some parts of York - and how little others - have changed since Victorian times.
The tour will begin outside Micklegate Bar, at 3, Blossom Street (Google Maps: https://maps.app.goo.gl/ZKca1Q...; What3Words: ///echo.quick.copper). We'll then walk through the Bar and down Micklegate to Ouse Bridge, stopping at photogenic spots along the way. Heading up High Ousegate to Pavement, we'll then go through The Shambles to King's Square, before turning onto Goodramgate to finish outside the East End of York Minster on College Street.
The walk lasts 90-120 minutes, and follows a step-free route, though some of the cobbled streets can be uneven, and may not be suitable for people of restricted mobility.
