About
Learn to weave a Willow Hare in the beautiful setting of The Orangery at Sledmere.
This September, we are excited to offer a willow weaving workshop in The Orangery at Sledmere, where you’ll have the opportunity to create your very own Willow Hare.
Learn to weave a beautiful willow hare with the expert guidance of Janice from Down2Earth. You will learn some of the basic weaving techniques, then start with the base and an outline structure. Weave the hare’s body using a fairly random weaving technique, before adding ears and legs to give it a character all of its own, resulting in a unique willow sculpture for your garden.
Start with a pile of sticks and end up with your own rewarding creation during this day-long willow weaving workshop!
Tickets:
General Admission: £85.50 per person
Sledmere Season Ticket Holders or 2025 Friends Members: £81.50 per person.
There are limited numbers on this workshop - it is highly recommended that tickets are booked in advance!
Full instructions are given and all equipment and materials are provided. You will need to be comfortable working with your hands all day - it is not suitable for anyone with hand, arm or shoulder problems and you will need to stand for some of the time. Please arrive promptly for the start of your workshop and wear closed-toe boots or shoes.
During the breaks of the workshop, you can enjoy all that Sledmere has to offer as your ticket also includes entry to the Parkland and Gardens.
