THOR’S tipi in York launches new comedy series – Valhaha | Gods of Comedy

This summer, THOR’S and Polyphonic Events are proud to present Valhaha - a brand new comedy series, set to bring local and national stand-up talent to the heart of York.

Taking place across three balmy summer evenings - Wednesday 18th June, Wednesday 16th July and Wednesday 20th August 2025 - Valhaha promises a brilliant night of laughter, atmosphere and summer magic, all under canvas. Hosted in the iconic THOR’S at the Milner Hotel Gardens.

THOR’S tipi is certainly one of the most unique venues in York, with (probably) one of the biggest beer gardens in Yorkshire! Guests can unwind with craft beers, delicious signature cocktails, sizzling street food, fire pits, and a cracking lineup of comedy.

“We wanted to create something fresh for the summer – something that brings people together, offers great entertainment, and captures the spirit of THOR’S,” said Amanda Monaghan, Director at THOR’S. “Polyphonic Events bring great energy and a real passion for grassroots comedy. Their bi-monthly Sunday Social Comedy Club at Bluebird Bakery in Acomb has built a loyal following, and we’re excited to bring that same community spirit to the centre of York with Valhaha.”

Doors open at 6:30pm, with the show starting around 7:00–7:15pm. Guests are encouraged to arrive early, soak up the atmosphere, and enjoy what’s fast becoming one of York’s standout summer events.
