York Mystery Plays

The York Mystery Plays are back! This theatrical spectacle, performed in the streets of York, is a tradition dating back to Medieval times and only take place every 4 years. The Bar Convent are thrilled to be a part of this year’s programme:

• 19 June- 29 August: Special exhibition- Women in the Mystery Plays– a fascinating exploration of the roles and stories of women within the history of the Mystery Plays. You can see this with entry to our exhibition*.
• 22 June- 5 July: See the original Arma Christi Medieval scroll on display in the exhibition*.
• 4 July: We’re also excited to announce that the Bar Convent will be hosting Calvary in the gardens.  This is a free event.
