At Malton Museum, many of our visitors ask questions about the medieval period, especially on our Town Tours. The layout of Malton town centre has changed very little since medieval times but, unfortunately, there is very little that visitors can see because remains of the early buildings are hidden behind those built later. At St Mary's Church in Old Malton however, there is visible evidence of the medieval past and this is why we have developed a tour based at that location called "Malton's Medieval Story".

We provide an illustrated talk to set the context of Malton and Old Malton in medieval times. We then look at key features inside and outside the church and try to image the full extent of the Gilbertine priory in its heyday. You can pay in advance on the link below or on the day. Cost is £10.
