As part of The Secret Art: Mujeres ¡Presentes! project join us for a half day workshop focusing on this rare and wonderfully vibrant music led by the inimitable Odaline de la Martínez guiding us through the sounds of 17th-century Mexican convents, irresistible Afro-Cuban beats, and the toe-tapping rhythms of the Rio Carnival. Odaline will be joined by specialist Ibe/rican pianist and accompanist Helen Glaisher-Hernández.
Sheet music will be available to download in advance of the event. Tea & coffee will be served, but please bring snacks for the break. The workshop will finish with a short run-through for family and friends at 5pm.
With thanks to Instituto Cervantes Manchester and The Iberian and Latin American Music Society.
