A Prehistoric Tour of York
About
Available to York residents only - see details of York Residents' Festival
Go back billions of years without leaving the cobbled streets of York city centre!
Join York's Hidden History at the 2025 York Residents' Festival as we explore the prehistory of the city centre.
Guided by Earth scientist Dr Liam Herringshaw, we'll uncover the rocks and fossils hiding in York's historic streets, with a splash of Ice Age geography and Roman archaeology thrown in for good measure!
A Prehistoric Tour of York starts at 11am and 2pm, outside the Yorkshire Museum in Museum Gardens and finishes behind St Michael's Church on Spurriergate. The walk lasts around 90 minutes, and is step-free, though the cobbled streets may not be suitable for people of restricted mobility.
The walk is free to residents of York, as part of the Residents' Festival. Please book your free tickets via Eventbrite: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e...
