Head into the green hills, stone villages and riverside scenery of the southern Yorkshire Dales on a private, full-day driven tour from York for up to four guests – a lovely day out for fans of James Herriot’s books and the All Creatures Great and Small television series.

The day begins at Bolton Abbey, with its priory ruins beside the River Wharfe, before continuing up Wharfedale to the riverside village of Burnsall. Next comes Grassington, the cobbled Dales village that plays Darrowby in Channel 5’s All Creatures Great and Small, with time for lunch and a wander. Nearby Linton Falls offers a short walk to the tumbling waters of the Wharfe, and when time allows there is a stop at Coldstones Cut for big views across Nidderdale. The day finishes among the dramatic gritstone formations of Brimham Rocks before the drive back to York.
