A free, 90 minute theatrical walking tour through York's darkest tales with Ragnell Hagathorn. Places strictly limited, booking essential.

Join the mysterious and entertaining Ragnell Hagathorn for a FREE, one-off York Witch Walk on the evening of Saturday 8 August.

Over 90 minutes you will wind through York's ancient streets to hear tales of witches, hauntings and horrible histories, told with theatrical flair and the odd jump scare along the way.

This is a special free event and places are strictly limited, so book early to secure your spot.

Before you go:

  • Meet at St. Helen's Square, York YO1 8QP
  • Please arrive by 8.20pm for check in. The walk begins promptly at 8.30pm
  • The tour lasts around 90 minutes and finishes in the city centre at approximately 10.00pm
  • It is an outdoor walk over cobbles and uneven pavements, so wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather
  • The walk goes ahead rain or shine
  • Recommended for mature audiences. Expect theatrical jump scares

At Saint Helen's Square, York YO1 8QP. Look for your guide Ragnell Hagathorn. Please arrive by 8.20pm so we can set off on time at 8.30pm.

How long is the walk and how far do we go?

Around 90 minutes at a gentle pace, finishing in the city centre at approximately 10.00pm. It is a short route through York's historic streets.

Will the walk be filmed?

Yes. A film crew will record the walk to create promotional videos for York Witch Walk. Because of this, the event is strictly 18 and over. Is it suitable for children?

Not on this date. Because this walk is being filmed for promotional use, it is strictly for ages 18 and over. Under 18s cannot attend this event. Our standard walks are suitable for older children and families, so keep an eye on our upcoming dates.

What happens if it rains?

The walk goes ahead rain or shine. It is fully outdoors, so please dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes for cobbles and uneven pavements.

Is the route accessible?

The walk covers cobbled streets and uneven pavements, which can be tricky for wheelchair users and anyone with limited mobility. If you have access needs, contact us before booking and we will do our best to help.
