About
Join Rachel Hogue, a Master’s student at the Centre for Eighteenth Century Studies, for an evening all about Georgian women’s fashion.
Drawing on her previous experience as a costumed museum educator at Colonial Williamsburg, Rachel will guide guests through the layers of a Georgian woman’s wardrobe—from undergarments to gown—while exploring the styles, politics, and social shifts that shaped dress between the 1770s and 1815.
The evening will feature a live dressing demonstration, offering insight into how fashion reflected broader cultural and historical change. At the conclusion of the demonstration, there will be a Q&A session with a particular focus on 18th Century fashion, women’s clothing and many more subjects of interest. Guests will also be given the opportunity to engage with Rachel and the clothing at the end of the event.
Guests will also have the opportunity to see and interact with the garments up close.
It promises to be a unique and engaging journey into the world of Georgian fashion.
