About
Come and meet winemaker Felix Coloma, a third-generation winemaker from Bodega Coloma, at our February tasting experiences. Enjoy five of his specially selected wines alongside a five-course menu inspired by one of Spain’s lesser known regions: Extremadura!
Two-thirds of Extremadura's impressively lengthy border is shared with Andalucia and southern Portugal. It's remote & sparseley populated and the region coveres approximately the same areas as the whole of Yorkshire. Yet, it has less than a fifth of Yorkshire's poulation. Much of it is mountainous and forested and it has more than its fair share designated as a National Park.
Without a doubt, its most famous gift to the world’s foodies is the Pata Negra pig. Raised on a diet with a heavy emphasis on acorns, and allowed to roam at will across large tracts of land, the meat produced from these pigs is revered and respected worldwide.
And when it comes to wines Extremadura is no lightweight either. Whilst less well known than other wine regions perhaps, it nevertheless has a really impressive yet slightly overlooked (internationally at least) wine industry. This is where Bodega Coloma shines.
We'll be pairing the Extremadura-inspired dishes on our menu with some of the best wines from Bodegas Colomas, a family-run and owned winery in Badajoz, close to the Portuguese Borders.
They have been crafting exceptional wines for generations. The Coloma family’s dedication to their craft is evident in every bottle, blending tradition with innovation to create wines that tell the story of their land.
We’re also excited to welcome back Felix Coloma, Bodega Coloma’s Export Manager, for our tasting experiences. This is Felix’s second event with us following three sell-out events in 2023! He’ll be joining us to offer full tutelage on the wines you’ll enjoy throughout the evening, share stories from the region and give an insight and history into their winery.
