Alpacas, wallabies and a private fishing lake
The wandering alpacas will show you when to sit down and absorb the warmth of the sun, they may well join you. The kingfishers will delight you with their fleeting turquoise presence over the lake. Calm will gently wash over you, yet you won't feel isolated. Your shoulders will relax even before you've unpacked, safe in the knowledge you are in good hands and everything has been thought of so you don't have to.

Whilst photos will suggest the natural tranquility on offer, it's not until you arrive you will actually feel it. The luxury of time and space together stargazing instead of screen time, where evenings end around the fire pit with the moon reflecting in the lake, not the blue light from devices.

If you can tear yourselves away from Acorn Glade there's the beautiful historic city of York just ten miles north west with so much to see and do. Hop on the Park and Ride and you'll be in the centre within minutes. We have lots of tips and recommendations for a lovely day out.

Where you will be staying
Come through the gate and leave the world behind you.
The drive will lead you to the private car park. We will personally greet you.
Each cabin is distinctly different and has been designed and sustainably built with you in mind for your delight, comfort and convenience. All have wood burners plus tea & coffee making facilities. Two log cabins have their own private loos, the others along with showers powered by air source heat pumps are situated indoors in what we call the Chicken Shed. The fully equipped kitchen and dining/games room are in the same cosy building with a wood burner. Choose which one here

- Is the site dog friendly?
We have a dog. However, the free range alpacas are terrified of dogs and will run away. Dogs see alpacas as long legged sheep or deer and so they are unsettled and will probably bark or chase them. So our calm and quiet site would become somewhat chaotic and noisy. Whilst we love them the alpacas don't.
- What are your opening hours?

Yes we do because we understand you may need to use it to stay in contact. However, we do encourage you to put your away and be in the moment.
- Do you have somewhere to charge my phone?
Yes, there are charging points in Daisy Roundhouse, Starlight Mirror Dome and the cChicken Shed. We also have a portable power pack. you may like to bring your own though.
- Are there places to eat and drink in the area?
Yes, there are some really great places to try. We can recommend lots of different eateries depending on what you fancy. We love to recommend venues that are off the beaten track . Our notice board in the kitchen has lots of suggestions with phone numbers so you can reserve table.
- Is the local pub within walking distance?
Yes, it's a lovely ten minute walk either along the canal or through the village to the Melbourne Arms. They offer a good menu plus a take away option.
