Set against the historical backdrop of York city centre, the experience is a 3-leg challenge that involves passing three checkpoints across the city. 

Self-guided and delivered via WhatsApp, teams can only rely on what is in their race pack, their teammates and their surroundings. Along the way, teams must navigate hidden alleyways, solve location-based clues, manage their in-game budgets, and make strategic route decisions.

Checkpoints serve as optional breaks and a place to solve physical, escape-room style puzzles themed around travel and discovery. Many checkpoints offer exclusive discounts so make sure you make the most of them!

• Start Location: The Shambles. Once here, teams send “START” on WhatsApp to receive their first checkpoint. If you’re racing head-to-head, you will not be sent to the same checkpoint as your opposing team(s). 
• Duration: Approximately 2 to 3 hours without breaks. Allow for longer if you wish to make the most of them. 
• Best For: Couples, families (ages 8+), groups of friends, and corporate teams.

Does the experience cater for accessibility needs?

Yes. The race can be made step-free, as well as dog and family-friendly. Just select your requirements while setting your team(s) up in your dashboard. Teams can set their own pace, so feel free to take as long as you need to complete the race.

What happens if it rains?

The experience runs rain or shine! Autumn weather adds to the authentic adventure atmosphere. Whatever the weather, we recommend dressing in warm layers and bringing a waterproof coat and a brolly. Comfy shoes are a must! 

Who will I be racing against? 

That’s up to you! If you enter the race as one team of 2-8 players, you’ll be paired with other random teams to play against on the leaderboard. If you play head-to-head, you’ll race against teams of your choice. 

If you wish to race head-to-head, all teams need to be on the same booking. Teams on the same booking always finish at the same checkpoint venue, but they will be separated throughout the race.
