We are delighted that our chosen charity for The Snooks Trail is St Leonard’s Hospice.

St Leonard’s Hospice is well respected charity that has been serving the communities of York and North Yorkshire for nearly 40 years. They provide care and support to people facing life-limiting illnesses and bereavement.

Their care is personal, designed to help people make the best of their lives at the Hospice, at home and in the communities.

Services include an in-patient unit, Hospice@Home, bereavement support and family support, providing round the clock care for those that need it. They also operate a Single Point of Coordination telephone support line that brings together end-of-life care experts from across the community, rapidly responding to patient and family needs to provide an exceptionally high level of care in the local area.

Last year they cared for and supported nearly 15,000 people in our communities. While the care is free, it is not free to provide. They rely on the generosity of the public to raise the nearly £8 million needed to run the Hospice each year. The help of individuals, groups and businesses in local communities is invaluable.

Your support will make a huge difference to those that need their care.

James Wainwright, Head of Fundraising at St Leonard’s Hospice says:

“The Snooks Trail is a new and exciting way for St Leonard’s to remind people why we’re here and of the difference we make for people in York and the surrounding area. This will be a really high-profile event for York, with the exciting prospect of the sculptures being auctioned off to the highest bidder in May – and hopefully raising a huge amount to help even more patients and their families in future.”
