The Watchers of York: Sculpture Trail
29th June 2026 to 31st August 2026. A Make It York event in collaboration with York Minster.
After spending the summer looking over York, the Watchers of York trail has now come to a close.
Inspired by the remarkable stone carvings found on York Minster, the city-wide sculpture trail saw 12 larger-than-life Watchers appear across York, from hidden gardens and historic streets to some of the city’s best-known locations.
Created by Make It York in collaboration with York Minster, the trail invited residents and visitors to explore the city and discover each creative sculpture.
The Watchers may have finished their summer adventure across the city, but there is still time to see them all together. From 3rd to 13th September 2026, the full collection is on display at York Minster, giving visitors one final chance to enjoy the sculptures in one place. Read more details here.
There is also still an opportunity to take home a Watcher of your own. The sculptures are available to bid for through the online auction, with proceeds supporting the York Minster Conservation Fund and the Creatives Fund.
