Why not try RUNNING some of York’s most iconic views and settings? York Knavesmire Harriers have put together two routes (5km & 10km), taking in the best views and routes through York. You can follow the Strava routes (5K and 10K) or download the maps below. This is one of the sporty activities we have for you to do this Summer, inspiring you to get outdoors, keep active and have summer fun!
5K Route
The first urban running route is 5km and mostly follows the inside of the city walls. The route starts from York Minster
Highlights are: York Minster, Merchant Taylors' Hall, Red Tower, Walmgate Bar, Fishergate Bar, Fishergate Postern, Eye of York, Clifford's Tower, Bishophill, Micklegate Bar, Lendal Bridge, York Art Gallery, Bootham Bar.
10K Route
The 10km route follows the river for a large part and starts from near the Principal Hotel.
Highlights are: Memorial Gardens, Scarborough Bridge, Clifton Green, St Peter's School, Museum Gardens (inc. St Mary's Abbey), York Minster, Stonegate, Clifford's Tower, New Walk, Millennium Bridge, Old Terry's Factory, York Racecourse, Knavesmire, Micklegate Bar, Grand Hotel
