Using Edgar Allan Poe’s original text from the 1840s, one actor faithfully brings to life the most terrifying examples of the gothic genre from the pioneering 'Godfather of Gothic Horror'.
Act I: In 'The Tell-Tale Heart', we meet a madman, trying his hardest to convince us of his sanity, whilst explaining the meticulous details of a murder he committed. Then, in 'The Pit and the Pendulum', we join a prisoner trying to escape the various torture devices of the Spanish Inquisition.
Act II: Arguably Poe’s darkest tale, 'The Black Cat' documents an alcoholic’s last confession on the eve of his death. A story not for the faint-hearted. Then, the poem that made Poe famous: 'The Raven'. In the midnight hour, as an elderly man laments the loss of his love, an ominous visitor is heard tapping on his chamber door…
