In York collections are available every day of the week. By choosing your local waste management company, you can also help save the environment:

• After our vehicle collects waste from your premises, it is taken to our resource and recovery station, Harewood Whin, just outside York.
• At Harewood Whin, recyclables are segregated into individual waste streams through our materials recovery facility.
• Residue that can’t be recycled is taken to Allerton Waste Recovery Park, just 15 miles away, where it is used to generate electricity. In fact, each year we generate enough energy created to power over 40,000 homes!

Yorwaste has a unique position in that we own our own waste transfer stations and have unrivalled access to Allerton Waste Recovery Park. This means we can reduce CO₂, divert waste away from landfill and ensure it will travel no further than necessary.

Yorwaste is owned by North Yorkshire County Council and the City of York Council, so ‘profits’ benefit the local community. We employ over 250 local people, contribute to the local economy, and manage over quarter of a million tonnes of waste each year.
