Yorkshire Day in York

Yorkshire Day was first celebrated on August 1, 1975, by the Yorkshire Ridings Society. However, it wasn’t until 1985 that it became an official event, marked by the first 'Official Yorkshire Day Civic Celebration' in York.

Yorkshire Day 2025 was marked in true style, celebrating the county's rich heritage right in the heart of its historic city. From iconic attractions to family-friendly activities, tourists and residents enjoyed a week of summer fun. Visitors explored the Seagull Trail at Shambles Market for a chance to win a prize, enjoyed free face painting on Parliament Street, and soaked up the vibrant atmosphere of Shambles Market and its ever-popular Food Court.

Seaside Fun in the City
🏝️ 26 July to 27 July 2025 - York brought the beach to the city centre for a two-day seaside escape. Families enjoyed a sandy play zone, snapped photos in the giant deckchair and at selfie points, and little ones had fun with face painting and rides on the classic Helter Skelter. The event created a playful, summer vibe for visitors of all ages.

Yorkshire Market Highlights
🌞 1 August to 3 August 2025 - Parliament Street was transformed into a vibrant artisan market celebrating the very best of Yorkshire. Visitors browsed a carefully curated selection of stalls offering locally made crafts, artisanal treats, and unique gifts.
