YMPST aims to develop enthusiasm for the performance of the medieval York’s Mystery Plays to continue to flourish through a network of active supporters and members located within the city, nationally and internationally.

It aims to provide continuity of knowledge, skills and experience among participants in the plays and making these available to artistic teams undertaking production of the Plays.

It supports all stagings of the Plays whoever produces them within the city of York.

It promotes opportunities for people to see and participate in the Plays through supporting and publicising productions, staging an annual Nativity for York and producing its own play in the York Festival Trust Waggon Play pageant every four years.

YMPST engages with principal stakeholders in the city with an interest in the continuation of the Plays. Among these are: York Festival Trust and city guilds, the theatres, the Minster and City Centre Churches and the Universities.
