The York Philharmonic Male Voice Choir was founded in 1925, bringing together those people with a shared love of music and singing. The choir has had the privilege of performing in renowned venues in the UK and Europe, including the Royal Albert Hall, Castle Howard, the York Castle Museum and York Minster. Join them at Holy Trinity Goodramgate as they celebrate their 100th anniversary year. Embrace the spirit of Christmas in an ancient venue lit by 150 candles.

Whether your taste is for contemporary or classical, West End or opera, folk song or spiritual, the wide repertoire of music the choir performs will offer both entertainment and pleasure.

Access and Venue Information

The venue is an 800 year old building so floors are uneven and light levels low throughout. This event will be by candlelight. The inside temperature is usually colder than that outside. Seating will be in historic fixed box pews. Seating is unreserved, sightlines are variable and you may be asked to share a pew. Blankets are available on request (subject to availability). Please feel free to bring cushions or blankets with you to make your visit more comfortable and do wrap up warmly.

The main gate onto the site is on Goodramgate (opposite Tesco). There is an alternative access via Low Petergate (through Hornpot Lane) which can be opened on request.

There is one toilet on site, but this is primarily for staff use so please consider other arrangements. If you do require access, please speak to a steward on the night.

The building is wheelchair accessible save for St James' and the Sunken Chapel. There are steps down into these areas which are often slippery. We welcome visits before the event if that is helpful to you and are usually open 11am to 3pm, Wednesday to Sunday (inc). Any questions, please contact york@thecct.org.uk.
