The Balloon Tree is a family run business which has been farming soft fruit and vegetables on this site for over 40 years. Our aim is to produce and sell as much top quality food as possible while offering a platform for local and artisan producers to make a name for themselves and promote their products.

Our business is made up of the Cafe, Farm Shop & a seasonal Pick Your Own Fruit Farm.

The Balloon Tree Cafe is an award winning establishment that is growing a fan base and reputation that rivals any of York's brilliant eateries. Through our approach to home cooked food and bright friendly interior, we have produced an ambience that keeps customers returning time and time again. Guests are able to relax with a fresh brewed coffee and a piece of cake from our in-house bakery, and in the Summer months dine alfresco in our landscaped Cafe garden while the children play in our ever growing play area.

Through our Farm Shop we sell a varied range of rare breed local meats, locally produced jams and chutneys, seasonal fresh vegetables, free range local eggs, and local artisan wines, beers and liqueurs, and much more! On our delicatessen we produce and showcase a wide range of lunchtime classics including pork pies, sausage rolls, quiches, scotch eggs and deli salads, made locally and in-house. Further to this we house a cheese selection that really offers something for everyone from blues to bries.

In addition to the shop we are an active working farm, which is showcased during our Pick Your Own season. Our season starts in April with our home grown Rhubarb, which is available to take home from the farm shop and to sample through our Cafe & in-house Bakery; then moves through the summer months when we highlight our strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, and currants through our Pick Your Own events. Then the Pick Your Own season ends on October 31st with our homegrown pumpkins. Our PYO Pumpkins are always incredible with plenty of different shaped, sized, and COLOURED pumpkins available - great to give some variation to your Halloween scene. Throughout November and December we have Yorkshire-grown Christmas Trees available.
