See the Sights of York with A CityDays Exploration Game

There are so many great places to visit in York it can be hard to know how best to approach a day out discovering the city. Luckily for you, you don’t have to! CityDays have created three immersive games to guide players on idyllic routes around its highlights and hidden gems.

The games involve mysterious text messages sent to the players’ phones, each of which contains a riddle that can only be solved using things found in York’s stunning streets. Players work in teams to crack these riddles, following them on a winding path between the city’s most beautiful, most historic and most unusual sights. Along the way they unlock fun and surprising facts about the places they discover, and visit great pubs and cafes they can put their feet up at if they fancy a rest.

The games are extremely flexible. Once purchased, they can be started on any day you choose, and can be paused on a whim. Want to dig a little deeper into one of the fascinating places you have found along the way? No problem, take as long as you like to explore then continue the game from where you left off after. You can even pick it up again on another day.

The games are designed to appeal to a wide range of tastes and ability levels. They are something everyone can enjoy!

- Playing with kids? There are multiple Hints available for each clue to make them fun for all.

- Competitive? Race to finish in the shortest time and with the smallest amount of wrong answers to try to top the leaderboard.

- Corporate/large group? Split into several teams and compete head to head.

- Looking to relax? Play slowly, soaking in the sights and enjoying every pub/cafe stop.

- History buff? The facts available at the end of each clue will take you through the city’s past, from its origins and into the modern day.

- Puzzle fanatic? Riddles and challenges are CityDays’ bread and butter; there’s a reason escape game lovers are raving about these games.

- On a date? This alternative day out will provide you with plenty to talk about and is sure to put a smile on both of your faces.

- Local? CityDays love showing locals incredible things that have been hidden right under their noses for years. You won’t believe what you have missed!

- First time visitor? Let the experts show you around. And what better way to experience the city than with a game!

The games on offer reveal three very different sides of York, each with their own unique thrills.

A Fatal Feud immerses players in the mystery of an unsolved 15th century murder. Will your team be able to crack the case after all these years?

The Drowned City explores the myths and legends that have shaped the city and the wider world, pitting you against ancient tricksters and fearsome monsters.

All the games unfold over a walking distance of 4-5 km and typically take 2-3.5 hours to play, although it is completely up to you whether you want to race to beat them more quickly, or take things at a leisurely place and not worry about the time.
